The National Capital Commission’s Parkway Policy

The NCC is updating its policy governing federal driveways/parkways for the first time in thirty years.

The commission finally acknowledges that its parkways have become commuter thoroughfares, and that increasing demands to accommodate local transportation on federal lands has put the “future integrity” of the parkways at risk. More…

While this is no news to Island Park Drive residents and neighbours, it is an opportunity to express concerns and provide constructive input to the NCC.

We encourage you to participate (and spread the word): Traffic woes, from gridlock to highway speeds, worsen with every year that passes.

It is nice to see an occasional news update, and especially to receive it by email. Thanks.
p.s. The timing of the annual garage sale, if there is to be one, would be of advance interest for planning purposes. Presumably lawn signage is again available, and the city’s permission for parking (with residents all knowing the times allowed) will be obtained to stop irate enforcement officers or police ticketing shoppers.
Have you set a date? June 7?

    Thank you.
